UB MissionThe University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Upward Bound (UB) was established in 1980. UB is a cost-free academic program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education. It falls under a larger umbrella of nationwide programs called TRIO. The primary goal of Upward Bound is to motivate and prepare high school students to pursue a post-secondary education. We are committed to ensuring that participants reach their highest academic potential through a series of services. These services will come in the form of year-round activities including, but not limited to, a summer residential experience at the UCSD campus, monthly field trips and or seminars, school-year tutoring, and mentorship. UCSD UB is offered in San Diego County at: Mar Vista High School, Chula Vista High School, Sweetwater High School, Castle Park High School, Hoover High School, and San Diego High School (LEADS)
