ETS Mission

Welcome to the Educational Talent Search Program (ETS). ETS will identify and assist individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The goal of ETS is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in college. To reach this goal we provide pre-admissions advising, academic enrichment activities, and motivational experiences. The role of the staff is to be the liaison between the program and the participants. ETS is vital in delivering the information, guidance, and motivation to our participants in an effort to address the issues of college admissions eligibility. The program goals are addressed through programmatic activities such as: College admissions, career, and financial aid information.

  • Assistance with completion and submission of college and financial aid applications.
  • Assistance with individual academic plan in relationship to their academic profile i.e., grades, courses, and exam scores.
  • Academic enrichment with emphasis on exam prep, time management and study skills.
  • Family involvement through school site meetings/workshops, campus tours, etc.
  • Exposure to college campuses.
  • Motivation to achieve at the required level of performance in college prep courses.
  • Inspiration to strive towards completion of high school and continue on to college.

ETS currently works in partnership with Monte Vista, Mount Miguel, Helix, and El Cajon Valley high schools. In addition we service Lemon Grove, La Mesa, Cajon Valley, and La Presa middle schools in the East County of San Diego. The schools that host our program are committed to providing the support necessary to implement these activities and assist students in reaching their educational goals.
